The Sigma SCF-160 is a single door chest freezer holding 142 litres. The lid lifts from the front and the inside is one open compartment, so whole chickens, fish and bulk packs go straight in without being cut down to fit around shelves.

• Everyday packs stay within reach. A side basket sits at the top of the cabinet, keeping small items above the deep load instead of at the bottom.
• See inside before you reach in. An inner glass door sits under the lid, so you can look for what you want with the load still covered.
• Nobody opens it but you. A key lock is set into the front of the lid, which matters at home with children about or in a shop.
• Change the setting from the front. The thermostat dial is on the front panel with a power indicator light beside it.
• Dust on the coils is easy to spot. The condenser is mounted on the outside of the cabinet rather than hidden inside the walls.

A drain plug sits low on the front, so meltwater runs out into a bowl when you defrost instead of being mopped out of the base.
